SHPS Postgraduates & Researchers : Performing a scoping search to validate your proposed research question

A scoping search should be performed once you have decided on your research question to check its validity and finalise it before you begin your search in full.

A scoping search is necessary:

To gain an overview of the depth of primary research available on your question. This will clarify if you need to make your question broader or more precise.
If you are planning on performing a Systematic Review, to check that a review on the same question has not already been done or is in proposal.

This workshop will demonstrate how to perform a scoping search using a variety of recommended resources
