Searching Evidence-Based Literature Online Workshop for NHS Staff

Who is this for?

Aimed at all healthcare staff (nurses, midwives, AHPs, scientific and technical, etc) who work at or affiliated with St George’s NHS Trust, who want to find  evidence-based literature for their work and CPD.

What does it cover?

In this session, your NHS Librarian will guide you through the NHS Knowledge & Library Hub and other essential online resources (see below). You'll learn how to navigate these tools efficiently and use them to find high quality evidence-based articles, ebooks, databases, guidelines etc to support your work in patient care, service improvements, teaching, clinical audit or CPD.

Contents:

  • Planning and designing an effective search strategy
  • Effective use of search techniques e.g. phrase searching, truncation 
  • Searching for healthcare literature using the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub platform
  • Identifying specialist resources e.g. TRIP Pro database, MAG Online Library, Royal Marsden Manual Online,  BrowZine Journal, Oxford Medicine Online, Kortex, etc.
  • Locating, accessing or requesting full text articles from the library services 
  • LibKey Nomad
