Introduction to Critical Appraisal Quantitative Online Workshop for NHS

Aimed at all NHS staff  working at or affiliated with St. George’s Trust, who require help, advice and support to improve their critical appraisal skill and knowledge of quantitative research.

Why attend?

This session helps contribute to staff’s practice of evidence based medicine. This is a fundamental skill to be able to identify and appraise the best available evidence in order to integrate it with your own clinical experience and patients’ values.

What does is cover?
Key areas covered in the workshop will include:

  • Introduction to what Critical Appraisal is
  • Using a CASP checklist to identify key aspects of quantitative  research
  • Working as a group to discuss and appraise a selected quantitative  research article.

Preparatory task

Please ensure you read the article sent to you prior to attending the session, using the CASP checklist as a guide.  This will be sent to you at least 3 days before the workshop.

Delivery 

This 90 minutes practical session will be delivered online.

Attendance advice

Only 15 places are available in this workshop. If after registering for the workshop, you find you are unable to attend let us know as soon as possible so that your place can be given to someone else.  Participants will receive a certificate of attendance which can be used in a professional development or revalidation portfolio.
