Advanced literature searching for NHS staff In-Person

Aimed at all NHS staff working at, or affiliated with St. George’s Trust who conduct complex literature or systematic reviews.

Requirement

You would need to already have the basic knowledge in designing search strategies, and have experience using NHS Knowledge & Library Hub, BMJ Best Practice, UpToDate, Trip, MAG Online Library, etc. If you don’t, please attend the Searching for evidence-based literature training  first.

Contents

  • Quick recap of planning and designing an effective search strategy
  • Know the difference between literature review vs systematic review
  • Searching advanced medical databases e.g. MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, COCHRANE, etc.
  • Locating, accessing or requesting full text articles from Library Services

Important: An OpenAthens login will be necessary to access these resources. Register for an OpenAthens account. We recommend registering at least two days prior to the workshop.
